POWER TO THE PEOPLE - Government takes it away. The United States was chartered, built, and made great by the Constitution - it empowers people and restricts government. It makes irrefutably clear that government is a protector of equal rights NOT equal results. Government now targets people as subjects rather than its source of power.
STATES' RIGHTS - Government abuses authority and claims those it does not have. In one sentence, the Tenth Amendment makes the federal government subservient to the states. Experience on the Public Service Commission has shown me first hand how the federal government abuses its authority and assumes power that it doesn't even have.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people
THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE articulates what the Constitution protects, but the federal government now neglects at the cost of all.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
North Dakotans accomplish more because we uphold, rather than simply recite those rights. I share the North Dakota common sense, diligence, creativity, and compassion required to restore trustworthiness, transparency, and fiscal responsibility to our federal government.
